2019 Hoedown

Yeehaw! The Annual Heybrook Hoedown Fundraiser is October 19th

On Saturday, October 19th from 5 to 10 PM the Friends of Heybrook Ridge will again be gearing up to party and raise funds for Heybrook Ridge County Park.

This year the venue will be the newly opened Startup Event Center (14315 366th Ave SE in Startup, WA) which after 4 years is beautifully and masterfully refurbished. There is a real stage for Spare Rib and the Bluegrass Sauce to play on, a large dance floor to accommodate all you jubilant participants, along with plenty of space for tables and chairs for eating and relaxing as well for auction items and Friends’ swag. The move is not only to a larger space but also an opportunity to support the Events Center and the groups in The Valley who have supported our cause in the past, as well as to reach out to the broader population that enjoys the Park’s trails. Chelan Soper will be providing the food this year, and we will ask for your help in providing delish desserts for our dessert auction

Our funding focus is the completion of Heybrook Ridge County Park’s “Erinswood Trail”, an ADA (wheelchair accessible) 1/2-mile loop at the base of the Ridge. The Park now boasts 2 trails: the beautiful 1-2/3 mile long “Leovy Trail” that winds up the forested Ridge to a stunning summit view of Bridle Veil Falls, and the halfway-completed “Erinswood” that starts at the parking lot and wanders through lush lowland woods.

The doors open at 5PM, food served at 6PM and music flows from 7to 10 PM. Ticket sales will be at the door or can be purchased in advance by contacting Susan Chatlos-Susor at stsusor (at) msn (dot) com. Ticket price is $30 and covers your meal, a drink, a free raffle ticket, just-gotta-dance music, an opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items (including dessert), and the Event Center fees. Children under 12 free.

FOHR is an all-volunteer group committed to spending raised funds wisely on trail building, education programs, and stewardship of the Park. Come join us on October 19th in some fantastic fun for a great cause. And please remember to keep the drive home on Highway 2 safe.
